Carrolyn Ann Barnes-McCann

1951 to 2015

Carrolyn Ann Barnes-McCann unexpectedly returned to the loving arms of our Father in Heaven on November 23rd, 2015.

She was born December 5th, 1951 in Morehead City, North Carolina to William and Lois Barnes. Carrolyn married the love of her life, Craig McCann on April 25th, 1974. She dedicated her life to helping others and being a friend to everyone. She never met anybody who wasn't a friend. Carrolyn spent a great deal of her life teaching elementary school.

Some of her proudest moments were talking about her students and their successes. She truly gave her all for them! Outside of work, Carrolyn was proud to be a mother of five children and a grandmother to 14 grandchildren. She always expressed that her biggest joy in life was her family. Happiness could always be found by Carrolyn in any situation, as long as it involved her family. Most summers, you could find her on Topsail Beach in North Carolina finding new friends to talk to. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carrolyn served in many callings and found the most joy in going out and visiting people in the ward.

She is survived by her loving husband Glenn Craig McCann, her mother Lois Shingleton Barnes, her children, Chris (Kim), Mike (Melissa), Matt (Emily), Cami Desatoff (Aaron), and Mollie. Also survived by three sisters, one brother, and 14 grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father, William Langhorn Barnes.
